'That was a sacred territory, a mix of heritage and home. Food was a part of our oral history. It was a matter of watch-and-learn, taste- and-learn, cook-and-learn, passed on from one generation to the next.' Combined with excerpts from the chapter 'Khai, Khai - to eat, to live' from Sudeep Chakravarti’s The Bengalis, this session is an exploration of food, culture and familiarity.
We invite you to bring readings, anecdotes, snippets and memories of how food has helped you feel less-alienated, or has been the cause for discrimination. We also wish to explore in this session, how food has also helped in asserting the indomitable spirit of humanity and foster empathy across cultures.
