About the Event

Session 4 will be based on Sushrita Acharjee's research titled 'Liberation War in Images: Photography'.

A workshop series conducted by experienced high school teachers, Sunita Biswas (Kolkata, India) and Shafia Afroz (Dhaka, Bangladesh) drawing from the arts-based research on the 1971 Liberation War by Sushrita Acharjee for History for Peace.

Using paintings, photography, songs and collectible ephemera, the 'Aesthetics of Resistance' research papers offer an exciting range of possibilities for high school teachers addressing the Bangladesh Liberation War in the classroom (virtual or otherwise). Sunita Biswas' workshops will help bring this research to life and facilitate you in coming up with creative, practical ways of channeling these ideas into engaging with your students. Shafia Afroz's session will bring us perspectives from across the border, offering us a window into how the 1971 Liberation War is taught in school classrooms in Dhaka.
